Welcome to our site

I have been in the power line engineering and construction business since 1997. I began as a grunt working for a construction contractor in Texas; worked my way up to head of a framing crew, then to digger operator and finally to lineman.

In 2000, an ice storm blanketed northeast Texas with 1/2 inches of ice on all trees and power lines. I was working in the bucket when a #4 ACSR line broke; the grip hit my left arm breaking the bone. To keep my job, I was put on light duty. My foreman knew of my degree in engineering tech from Texas A&M University-Commerce and let me stake some small jobs. From this point on, I would not be back in the bucket. I staked for a few months until my arm healed and they wanted me to go back to work as a lineman.

I enjoyed staking line so much I began Machen Enterprises, Inc. in November of 2001. Since that time, I have worked for several utilities in three different states. I have studied new software applications for different aspects of the power engineering field.

I believe technology is not going away; I use it to produce more work in a shorter time period than traditional methods.

Thank you,
Kenneth Machen, Owner/CEO
